Bonsai

written by Jered Paul

I got into bonsai in 2016 after my wife bought me the "Planters choice bonsai starter kit" for valentines day.

I had always wanted to try bonsai, but I moved 18 times in 16 years since joining the Marine Corps, and then finding a state/town I wanted to settle down in. This made a minimalist lifestyle necessary, and unfortunately lots of tiny trees did not fit into that lifestyle.

Ever since my first seed popped I have been eager to grow more trees, and learn more about the process. I am far from an expert, but I truly have grown leaps and bounds over these 7 years of practicing the art of bonsai.

If you enjoy the thought of trying bonsai, I would say "Go for it!!!". Have fun experimenting, and if you find that it is for you that’s great. You will have a livng hobby that grows with you on your life's journey.

Patience and consistency

Growing bonsai trees is a gradual process. These are living trees that take time to sprout.

That is essential to picking up bonsai as a hobby — understanding that it’s about slowing down, taking your time, and enjoying the journey.
