Board Game Cafes

Room to play.
Room to laugh.

We’ve all dabbled in board games. They’re fun, silly, and competitive.

But board games take up space and sometimes we don’t have all the board games we want. Or want to try new ones!

Board game cafes are the perfect meeting places to get together to have a fun night with friends or meet a community of board game players.

Play your favorites. Discover new ones.

Check out how one board game cafe sets themselves up!

Entrance - Many board game cafes are split up into two sections. One area, usually the entrance, where you can browse board games to purchase and other board game related items like dice.

Cafe - As the name foretells, these spaces are also cafes. To be more specific, they often offer teas, pastries, and snacks for you to enjoy while you play your board games. It’s rare for any of them to offer full entrees because you need the room to play the games!

Wall of Games - So many games for you to grab and play! You’ll find many that you recognize and many that are new to you. We definitely encourage you to try something new and if you need a recommendation or help, you can ask for it!

Tables - All board game cafes have an array of tables for you to sit down and enjoy your board games with. Bring one friend or eight!

How board game cafes work…

  • Feel free to step in and browse the “for sale” section. An employee can point you where they are. You can also tell as these games are still wrapped. Don’t unwrap them! You’ll have to purchase them if you do.

If you need a recommendation, feel free to ask. They have everything from party games to intense competitive ones.

  • Head over to the counter and say you’re here to play some board games!

Typically, it’s priced by hour. They’ll let you know their price and assign you a table. Then head over to the playable games section where you can browse their whole collection. You can also ask for a recommendation.

Play the games you know! Or learn a new one. Grab a snack or drinks if you’re staying a while.

At the end, you can return to the counter and let them know you’re all set and they’ll check you out.

Dungeons & Dragons

  • It’s a game that’s full of imagination and laughter.

Played for a single session or over months, Dungeons & Dragons is a popular adventure game full of twists and turns lead by a Dungeon Master.

If you’ve played before, board game cafes are a great way to join a new group or start playing in-person. First time? No problem. You don’t have to know anything to get started in D&D at a board game cafe.

Magic the Gathering

  • There’s nothing like a trading card game in person. Many board game cafes host MTG weeklies, where you can stop by and play against locals.

Taskmaster

  • A unique live game show that you can participate in or come in and watch your friends!

A group of contestants are all given “tasks” to do and depending on their performance they get a set of points.

You can imagine how silly it gets…and it gets even more than you think!
