How to Find a Hobby
It’s a funny question but a very legitimate one:
How do I commit to a hobby?
Does it feel right?
It all boils down to this. Is it exciting? Do you want to keep doing it again and again?
Explore the pros and cons and listen to your heart.
Does the idea of doing it excite you?
A common pitfall is being more in love with the idea of being a hobbyist of the hobby, not the hobby itself.
Think of how many of us would love to be able to play guitar and jam out a song at random. But how many of us actually like the idea of learning cords and practicing over and over again until we memorize songs?
Practicing should excite you. The prospect of improving and learning the next steps should be your natural thoughts. Trying something new within the hobby is what you’re researching, not how it looks.
Will you be consistent?
To go from trying a hobby to making it your hobby, you have to fit it into your life.
And that means consistency.
That doesn’t mean you need to do your hobby at a set time every day or week. You simply need some degree of regularity in your life, even if it is just once a month or in a short time before work or school.
You should naturally be thinking that you want to make time to do this activity. Not that you have to force it into your schedule or lifestyle.
